Violence which would have been committed on a recurring basis. Monday May 6, 2024 opens before the Paris Criminal Court the trial of ex-rugby star Byron Kelleher. The former All Blacks and Stade Français is on trial for violence committed against his partner.

Dragged by the hair into the apartment

The facts for which the defendant is summoned to court date from June 24, 2023. During an argument, Byron Kelleher allegedly broke down the door to the bathroom where his partner had taken refuge, then would have dragged her by the hair through the corridors of the apartment. According to The Parisianthese acts of violence would have led to cervical injuries and hematomas in the victim.

According to the defendant’s partner, these blows were far from being the first. Since her relationship with the rugby player in 2010, the victim would have suffered multiple acts of violence. Many of them allegedly occurred while the defendant was under the influence of alcohol.

Violence contested by the defendant

It was on June 27, 2023 that the victim filed a complaint at the police station. Byron Kelleher was then placed in police custody on October 16, 2023. The latter would deny having committed violence on June 24 against his partner.
