The first half of 2024 is marked by a succession of works in the city center relating to the development of the town. This concerns rue Raymond-Peydecastaing from the crossroads in front of the church to the crossroads of the mini-market, rue Jean-Fenouillet and rue de l’église.

A situation update was provided by Mayor Régine Povéda on Tuesday April 30: “The first project at the start of the year, financed by the Garonne Gascogne Water Union, was devoted to the repair of the drinking and waste water networks.

“We are currently carrying out the town center development project, the first phase of which is devoted to the repair of the rainwater network. Rue Peydecastaing is closed to traffic and parking is prohibited throughout the area until the end of June. Access to local homes and businesses (pharmacy and hairdressing salon) therefore remains possible, but in impractical conditions. In July, this project will move to rue de l’église and will resume at the start of the school year in September in rue Jean Fenouillet. Finally, in the second half of September, the three streets will receive the final coating, putting an end to this sequence of development of the town. While waiting for this deadline, the upcoming establishment of a minute stop at the foot of the church, if it is well respected by motorists, will make it possible to mitigate the damage suffered by local traders.”

Unhappy

Contacted Thursday May 2, Marc Jautard, the pharmacist, was very upset: “For the quick stop that I requested, certainly the decree from the mayor has been taken and posted, but no explicit sign has yet been installed, so it’s no use. Especially since I have three clients who have taken a report, and I will certainly not see these again.”

The entrances to the town, from the route de Marmande and La Réole, were developed in 2023. Rue Édouard-Giresse (la Roque) will remain to be redone in the coming years and it will be complicated, given the fragile state of the entire infrastructure.
