Météo France is once again placing the Jura department on yellow “thunderstorms” alert from this Sunday, May 5, 2024, 2 p.m. until midnight. The prefecture calls on residents to exercise extreme caution when traveling.
The lull did not last long. After a first alert this Wednesday, May 1, Météo France once again places the Jura department on yellow “thunderstorms” alert from this Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 2 p.m. to midnight.
“These storms may be accompanied by small hail locally and heavy rain on areas
already close to saturation or saturated”, indicates the prefecture on its social networks. The rains could be locally heavy: we expect between 10 and 20 mm in a few hours in the department.
The authorities are calling for vigilance to all those who plan to practice outdoor activities in the afternoon and until the middle of the night. More information on the site https://vigilance.meteofrance.fr/fr/jura.
According to the Météo franc-comtoise website, these stormy showers are mainly expected between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. in the region and should remain very localized. They could give hail of 0.5 to 1cm in narrow corridors.
The departments of Doubs, Haute-Saône and Terrioire de Belfort are also placed on yellow “thunderstorm” alert like 48 departments in total in France.
