What is the A412 motorway?

The Chablais highway, or transchablaisienne, is a paid connection project between Machilly, a commune bordering the canton of Geneva (Switzerland), and Thonon-les-Bains, sub-prefecture of Haute-Savoie located on the banks of Lake Geneva . This 2×2 lane infrastructure, approximately 16 kilometers long, was declared of public utility on December 24, 2019 after five years of public inquiry and other impact studies. Its aim is to relieve congestion in the town centers of the municipalities it will pass by, which are heavily congested during peak hours.
