Industrial activity in Morocco would have recorded, in August 2024, an improvement compared to the previous month, according to Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM).

Production would have increased in all branches with the exception of “textiles and leather” and “electrical and electronics” where it would have fallen back, reveals BAM in its recent monthly industrial situation survey which was conducted from 02 to September 30, 2024. The capacity utilization rate (TUC) would have, for its part, stood at 77% after 76% the previous month, specifies the same source, adding that sales and orders would have progressed overall branches except “textiles and leather” where they would have rather declined.

Order books would have been generally at a normal level, covering levels above normal in “chemistry and parachemistry” and “electrical and electronics” and below normal in “agri-food”, “textiles”. and leather” and “mechanics and metallurgy”.

For the next three months, manufacturers anticipate an increase in production and sales in all branches of activity except “agri-food” where they expect a decline in production and stagnation in sales. However, more than one in five companies report uncertainty about the future development of production and sales.
