Éditions CEC inc., a Quebecor Media company specializing in school books, announced Thursday that they were acquiring the collections of Éditions Grand Duc and Groupe Éducalivres inc., a few months after the cessation of the latter’s activities.

Teachers will thus be able to continue to use the services and content offered by Groupe Éducalivres inc., Quebecor announced Thursday in a press release.

“Customers will be able to continue to use the educational sets from Éditions Grand Duc which will be upgraded through our maZoneCEC platform. From now on, schools will be able to order the Grand Duc collections from us and will be able to receive their educational materials for the next school year,” explained Martin Vallières, general director of Éditions CEC.

Éditions Grand Duc, formerly Éditions HRW, founded in 1966, has since worked in the educational sector as a publisher of educational works for primary and secondary schools and adult education.

“We are very happy today to announce to our authors and our clients that we have found a well-known publisher who will ensure the sustainability and influence of our collections by continuing their presence in the market,” declared Jean-Guy Blanchette, president of the Quebec company Groupe Éducalivres inc.

Éditions CEC ensures the exclusive distribution in Canada of works from Hachette Éducation and the “À la rescousse” collection from Éditions Érasme. The Quebec educational publisher is also a leader in French as a second language teaching in Ontario and an important player at the college and university level.
