In Rennes, this 100% fantasy and fantasy festival returns this weekend

After a successful second edition, which brought together more than 4,500 people in 2023, “L’Ouest Hurlant” returns on May 4 and 5, 2024 at La Paillette (MJC and Théâtre) and in Saint Cyr Park in Rennes. This year’s theme: “From the margins”. The festival remains a territory open to all genres of the imagination: science fiction fantasy and fantasy.

On the program, round tables, shows, activities and a bookstore which will host signings, with around thirty authors present. Visitors will also find a village, which is home to specialized publishing houses, artisans, etc.

A good novel

Masterclasses will be offered, for example to learn how to write a “good fantasy novel” – it’s Saturday at 11:30 a.m. – or to write a saga, learn about copyright, or how a comic book scenario works . Role plays, a treasure hunt and concerts are also planned. “6,500 people are expected this year,” announce the organizers, also very attentive to offering a fully inclusive event: “Our values: fight against discrimination, fair payment of stakeholders, and horizontal organization,” they indicate.
