A suspect, aged 20, was arrested this morning in Toulon. The man is suspected of having intentionally driven his car into a group, killing one person and seriously injuring another.
The events took place around 5:30 a.m. outside a nightclub, “Boy’s Paradise”, a gay and lesbian club. According to initial information, an altercation took place inside the establishment.
As reported by Le Parisien, the suspect, driving his car, then drove into a group of people leaving the nightclub. The possibility of a homophobic crime has been ruled out for the moment.
The suspect then reversed and deliberately hit the group, trapping two people under his vehicle. Despite the suspect’s attempt to flee, a witness was able to note the license plate of his vehicle.
Informed, the police quickly arrested the individual at his home in Six-Fours-les-Plages. A flagrant investigation into attempted murder and murder was opened by the Toulon public prosecutor’s office.
