Police officers combed the area of Fraser, Saint-Marc and Bellevue streets after a man fled on May 1 around 11:45 a.m.

The public relations officer for the Sûreté du Québec, Frédéric Deshaies, confirmed that a police operation was carried out without being able to give more details in order to preserve ongoing investigations.

According to our information, a car stopped in the parking lot above the Denis Pelletier gas station. A man then allegedly got out from the passenger side to hide behind a company truck.

A patrol officer reportedly intercepted the car as it was leaving the parking lot. The hidden man would therefore have fled. The peace officer allegedly saw him and chased him.

The suspect, who has been sought for some time by the Sûreté du Québec, is said to have raced down the slope between the business building and a residence, before crossing Fraser Street, then the Info Dimanche parking lot.

The police officer then lost track of him.

Several officers searched the area, on foot and by car, to find the individual. A dog handler was even dispatched to the scene to find a possible lead.

Around 1:50 p.m., the police operation ended. The SQ did not want to reveal whether the man had been arrested, but mentioned that the police remained vigilant.
