Sluc : back to the future

The championship is not over for Sluc , yet the future is a work in progress. Fluoroscopy of an anticipation.

The buzzer has not yet sounded and we must already prepare for the next part. This is played out with the Sluc administrative team on the ground, coached by general director Youri Verieras who leads his (meager) troops with intelligent flexibility. Precise, rigorous, with a laser eye and everything neatly organized in his head, he identifies priorities, demonstrates his keen sense of organization, leaves his mark, all while operating on the trust that Aurélien Fortier gives him, from whom he is the active relay and director of the policy to grow the club without squandering the finances. “From an administrative point of view, by that I mean, commercial, ticketing, etc. we started preparing for the next exercise. We have been working on these points since February, we are giving ourselves a little time to refine. We know that when the season is over we have to move on, so let’s say that we are ready to launch the operations: the subscriptions, the campaign of which will normally begin on June 3, but we are moving forward, we are giving ourselves the time to know the projections of the next calendar with the constraint known or not, shifts for retransmission constraints. »

Sluc Nancy maintains a social and unifying activity

For this, Sluc Nancy and all the clubs playing in Betclic Élite are waiting to know what will happen to the agreement with Skweek after the recent episode of black screen – two days – before the restart of the binding contract the Basketball and the broadcaster. Lacking knowing a little more on the subject, Youri Verieras strives to prepare the conditions which will allow Gentilly to be full of spectators at each meeting. To the point that we wonder if Sluc, by the atmosphere of the room, by the image it gives off, the fervor it maintains and the passion it arouses, does not maintain a social and unifying activity. To keep this identity and the ties established, everything must be up to par. “We must allow everyone to secure their places according to the inherent constraints as we have experienced this season with fluctuating kick-off times. »

“We’re trying to push the walls”

Behind sport, there is inevitably and more and more marketing and a brand image to work on, to consolidate, to promote. This story is not about luck fiction, it is about economics, relationships, communication around a project and the constituent values of Sluc. “We try to push the boundaries, to create small additional products. It will not be revolutionary, but we will increase the number of seats around the field, to continue to meet the sustained demand. We adapt, we make sure to be proactive to meet growth needs. Who says a need for growth, says a desire to devote more money to payroll in order to build the team. »

To achieve this objective, it would also be necessary to be able to increase the capacity of the room. An attractive project in absolute terms but expensive and complicated to implement. But giving up is not giving up in the face of difficulty. On the contrary, other orientations are possible. Grand Nancy, owner of the equipment, and Sluc are thinking about it. “There is the project for the annex room whose configuration would be modified, which would allow us to switch our offices at that time. This is still under study, work in this direction is being carried out in mainland . We said that we had a favorable approach to this idea which would allow us to seek out the essential growth drivers and have spaces to market. We know that unfortunately it will not be for the next season. Between the time of decision and that of the work, patience is essential. We have this medium-term outlook and we would love to see it happen. In the meantime, we are trying to optimize to continue to have additional resources in order to achieve our sporting objectives which are to be even more efficient next year. So we will strive 1, to keep all our partners, 2, to attract others, the goal being to have an increase in the budget of 6% which would be correlated to that of the payroll increasing by 10 % compared to the start of this season. »

The financial sinews of war obviously lead to considering the squad in which Anthony Labanca, Caleb Walker and Clément Frisch will still be under contract. Depending on this data, the task of the sports sector and President Fortier will be to try to convince a few proud spearmen to stay and to convince other talents to join the solidly constructed Sluc project.

The season is not over, the next one is starting. High-level sport is a never-ending quest for improvement.
