In order to create synergies in administration and lead the region competitively into the future, even closer collaboration is planned between the Regional Lake Association, Morat Tourism and Vully Tourism. A single entity which could be called “Lake Morat Region” would thus see the light of day, from January 1, 2025, according to information from Radio Freiburg.

“We have been planning a collaboration for six years,” underlines Christophe Dupasquier, president of Vully Tourisme. A change in law in 2023 has accelerated discussions. “Until now, the tourist tax went into the coffers of the Lake Regional Association. In the future, the redistribution of this money among the members of a common association will be formalized.”

Identities preserved

Officials specify that each section will retain the identity specific to its region and its decision-making power. “This merger makes sense, because after all we are all selling the same region,” continues Christophe Dupasquier, who cites this advantage in particular: “A tourism specialist devoted nearly 30% of her work to administration. With the new structure, she will have more time for her main activity.” The new association will allow forces to be concentrated in a single office.

By the end of 2024, the idea of a new association should be approved by the extraordinary general meetings, in order to be able to start the new year with the organization on time. The Lac district recorded nearly 70,000 overnight stays in 2022.
