These are not one, not two but three exhibitions dedicated to sport that Mayor Jean-François Rousse has just inaugurated on Friday May 3, 2024 at the media library and the town hall of Condom.
As the passage of the Olympic flame through our city and the Paris Olympics approaches, the media library is hosting two exhibitions within these walls:
– the history of the Summer Olympics from A to Z through official posters and other information sheets made available by the International Olympic Committee, as well as a very complete collection of stamps lent by Lionel Leblan
– “Forward the games, two centuries of sport in Condom” in the room renamed for the occasion “Olympe room”, retracing the evolution of various sports practices and associations in the Gers sub-prefecture thanks to numerous pieces loaned by the condomois and archival research carried out by Anne Chatillon
For the third opening dedicated to rugby in our department, we had to go to the municipal council room of the town hall where the exhibition “from the coq to the soul” is housed, a traveling gallery loaned by the departmental archives of Gers including Condom is the first city to be able to exhibit.
The Sub-Prefect Véronique Moreau and the director of the departmental archives Pascal Geneste honored these exhibitions with their presence.
Note that these sports retrospectives are open free to the public from May 13 to June 28, 2024 and that “The Bathers”, outdoor works exhibited in a nod to the Olympic Games, will be exhibited until the passage of the flame.
