Jean Butez leaves Royal Antwerp and joins Como, in Serie A. The French goalkeeper, who played 170 matches and made 63 clean sheets with the Great Old, finds himself on the bench and takes on a new challenge in Italy.
At Como he will compete with experienced goalkeepers such as Pepe Reina and Emil Audero. Jean Butez was part of the team that won the historic treble two seasons ago with Antwerp.
Already leaving in the summer of 2024, Jean Butez had not found the right fit. Anderlecht had notably expressed interest, but no agreement was ultimately reached.

This winter, Como, where Ignace Van der Brempt also plays, therefore obtained the signature of the French goalkeeper, long announced on the RC Lens side, to replace Brice Samba.
In the club’s press release, the 28-year-old goalkeeper was enthusiastic about this new adventure: “For me, it’s a dream come true. After a few successful years in Belgium, this represents a big step forward The project in Como is one in which I can grow, and I look forward to settling my family and myself in this beautiful region of Italy.”
Como coach and former Barcelona, Arsenal and Chelsea star Cesc Fàbregas was very pleased with Butez’s arrival. “His leadership qualities and experience are exactly what our team needs. Jean will be a real asset,” said the Spanish coach.
