The famous Casa de Papel robber spent this first weekend of January in Les Angles. Darko Perić, known as Helsinki in the series, appeared in several restaurants and emblematic places of the resort where he came to promote his documentary film.
An actor from Casa de Papel in Les Angles? The famous Helsinki, robber of the National Currency and Stamp Factory gang from the hit series on Netflix, spent the weekend of January 4 and 5 in Les Angles, the place he chose to shoot the videos of promotion of his latest film “Territory“, filmed in Kyrgyzstan (Central Asia).
“After the success of Casa de Papel, he needed
to refocus”
But why Les Angles? “We are in contact with a journalist in Barcelona who introduced us to Victor Riverola, who is in charge of promoting Darko Perić’s film. He was looking for a place in the mountains with snow, and he suggested that they come to Les Angles“, explains Antonio Martin, head of the Angles Tourist Office and in charge of press relations with the Catalan media, who followed the team during the two days. “After the intense success of Casa de Papel, the actor explained to us that he needed to refocus and recharge his batteries. To go to a place without network. This is why he decided to shoot a documentary film in Central Asia.“.
Le Bel Angle, Le Chalet, La Grange, the Bigorre plateau…
His team and family arrived on Saturday and stayed at the Hotel Le Bel Angle until Sunday, the day of their departure. The manager of the hotel evokes a stay which “went very well” and some exchanges in French with the Serbian actor. “You can’t imagine all the languages he speaks!” she added. Among the must-see places in the resort, Darko Perić also filmed an interview in one of the rooms of the mountain restaurant Le Chalet. “His teams asked us if it was possible, obviously we said yes. I served him his tea, I would have liked to chat with him more but he speaks Spanish so there was a language barrier. But he is a very kind and approachable person.“, confides Cécile the owner of the place. That day, Jean Palau and Sonia Quesada, two Catalan artists who distinguished themselves in the show The Voice, were also present at that time. “I had three stars gathered in one place!“, concludes the restaurant manager.
The Helsinki robber did not miss the unmissable Savoyard fondue at the Crêperie La Grange restaurant, then stopping by the Yes Bar and shooting a video comfortably seated on the Bigorre plateau. He took part in photo games all weekend. “He is a simple, accessible person. When we ate at La Grange, people stopped to see if it was really him, the same when we were at the Bigorre plateau. He always said yes for the photos and was very cool, very kind“, reports Antonio Martin.
