Development work on the Valley of Birds in Agadir is progressing at a good pace with an opening planned for the end of 2025. Located in the heart of the city’s tourist area and overlooking the corniche, this emblematic space created under the leadership of the late King Hassan It’s getting a new look. Covering an area of ​​3 hectares, the project seeks to provide a recreational and educational space for locals and tourists, with a zoo of 500 animals, educational farms and new infrastructure.

«This park was originally created by the late King Hassan II to provide a place for locals and tourists to relax. Today, we are working on its rehabilitation as part of the Agadir Urban Development Program 2020-2024, signed before King Mohammed VI in February 2020», Declares Abdallah Boulaghmair, vice-president of the Agadir municipal council.

The project benefits from joint funding from several institutions, including the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Urban Planning and Housing, the Council of the Souss-Massa region, the Provincial Council of Agadir Ida-Outanane and the Al Omrane group.

«The work concerns the overall redevelopment of the space with the objective of strengthening the tourist attractiveness of the city», explains Boulaghmair. The future park will include a zoo welcoming 69 animal species.

At the same time, educational spaces, educational farms and children’s play areas will be created to educate young people about fauna and flora. “We want this place to become a real center of leisure and learning», specifies the manager.

In addition to the zoological and educational spaces, the Valley of Birds will be equipped with new infrastructure: shops, kiosks and an administrative building of 1,000 square meters. “The park’s strategic location, close to the waterfront and the city’s main arteries, will help attract more visitors, both local and foreign.», Underlines the vice-president of the municipal council.

The work, which began in 2021, should be completed before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations. “This project is part of a global development dynamic aimed at modernizing Agadir’s infrastructure and improving the quality of life of residents.», he concludes.
