“Here, we don’t mind other people’s affairs”, this is the common thread, the spring of the drama told by L’eau des collines, one of Marcel Pagnol’s major works, bringing together two of his novels: Jean de Florette and Manon des sources.

Even when Jean de Florette and his entire family exhaust themselves fetching water far from home, under a blazing sun, to try to save their carnation plantation, no one will tell them that a source has been buried, voluntarily, on their own land. A tragedy, death, despair which will later lead to Manon’s terrible revenge. A theatrical adaptation, a new creation, is proposed by the company “In your company” which continues its approach: giving the spectator the opportunity to be active, to construct their own vision based on the performance. In this relationship between a visible image and an image constructed throughout the story, the company leaves the spotlight to the viewer. “In this form to be invented, we will establish a simple playing convention with the audience without a fourth wall, we will play evocations, poetic shifts. We will provide surprises. It is up to the spectators to create connections between different elements of the show: text, shadows , projections, soundscapes…”, explain the actors. A universe so well known that it was essential to revisit it: “Spectators are invited to participate in this extraordinary journey. With street theater, puppet and object theater, it is a fairground and poetic universe that is unfolds at the heart of this imaginary boat where the public also becomes an essential actor Between laughter and tears, we reread these novels as a parable of our world today.
