Did you watch Gladiatorsthe new show of TF1 full of testosterone, broadcast since December 27? If the answer to that question is no, it’s now (almost) too late to see what that looked like.
The front page announced Parisian that the program would no longer be broadcast. A stoppage of programming after only two issues, due to lack of sufficient audience.
What is Gladiators?
Gladiators, it is (was) a new entertainment signed TF1 in which ordinary French people face mountains of muscle during sporting events, from 9 p.m. or so, as we explained in a previous article.
This new Friday evening program was entrusted to a presenting trio: Hélène Mannarino, Denis Brogniart (who comments more particularly on sporting events) and the veteran Jean-Pierre Foucault.
Only 862,000 people watched the 2nd episode
But the formula did not succeed in finding its audience, and the viewers were not sufficiently there: only 952,000 French people watched the first channel this Friday, January 3, according to TV Magazinelargely behind the broadcast of the film Beauty and the Beast on M6 or The Count of Monte Cristo on Canal +, which achieved more than a million prime-time viewings.
1.9 million people followed the first episode: a disappointing figure for the launch of a show. “We try things. Sometimes it works, sometimes not,” slipped a TF1 employee to Parisian.
Refurbished at the end of the evening
Instead of the prime time show, therefore, a show by ventriloquist Jeff Panacloc on the first Friday, then the following week by Les Touristes, the show by host Arthur.
And if you haven’t had time to form your opinion, don’t panic, the last two episodes will be broadcast… but in the second part of the evening, Friday January 10 and 17. You’ll have to be a night owl.
