French actor Dimitri Boetto was arrested on January 1, 2025 at Lyon Saint-Exupéry station. He is suspected of having beaten his former brother-in-law to death outside a bar in Apt, in Vaucluse, indicates Vaucluse Morning.
According to initial information, a violent altercation between the two men broke out at the time of the Mediterranean break. The victim, a man in his fifties, was reportedly beaten numerous times and left unconscious. It was a third person who called for help.
Despite their efforts, he died shortly after in hospital.
An open investigation
The man who fled and was arrested is French actor Dimitri Boetto, 51, known for his mastery of martial arts and his career in cinema. He was quickly identified and arrested in Lyon.
After his arrest, he was taken into custody for homicideand an investigation was opened by the Avignon public prosecutor’s office. During his interrogation, he allegedly claimed not to be aware of the death of his former brother-in-law.
Originally from Apt, Boetto had a tumultuous career, having spent years in a boarding school and then in prison for various crimes. However, now based in the Paris region, he had managed to bounce back into the world of cinema, appearing in several recent productions, including popular films and series like “Scènes de Ménage” or the Netflix series “So far everything goes bien”, the film “The Last Queen”, “Gueule d’Ange” or even the film “Burn out”.
An autopsy on the victim is scheduled for this Friday. It should make it possible to establish the precise causes of death. The investigation continues to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy.
