“There are certainly nicer places to spend the holidays than the hospital, but it is close to my heart to share a little message about skin cancer”: this is how Nancy Kemp-Arendt begins a long message , in Luxembourgish, published Monday December 30 in the evening on its Facebook page and already commented on nearly 500 times this Tuesday morning.
The CSV MP, and former high-level sportswoman (swimmer and triathlete) reveals that she is currently being monitored after having suspicious spots removed from her skin. It’s not the first time, but in this case she hopes “it was detected just in time before the tumor spread.”

But if Nancy Kemp-Arendt decided to publicly reveal part of her private life, it is also and above all to raise awareness of the risk posed by skin cancer, and to encourage people to get examined quickly in case of doubt.
“It is important for me to emphasize how crucial it is to detect early and respond quickly in such a case. If you or your partner, children or parents notice a change in the skin, don’t wait! Go directly to the dermatologist to have it checked and get a clear diagnosis,” she wrote, while thanking the medical team following her and wishing a happy new year 2025.
Six times sportswoman of the year
As a reminder, Nancy Kemp-Arendt participated in the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul (swimming) and 2000 in Sydney (triathlon), and was elected Luxembourg sportswoman of the year six times. She then embarked on a political career, serving continuously in the Chamber of Deputies since 2003, under the CSV label. She was notably president of the Petitions Committee from 2018 to 2023. She is today its vice-president.
