On December 28, 2024, Roxane Stojanov was named principal dancer of the Paris National Opera. On the proposal of José Martinez, Director of Dance, and under the signature of Alexander Neef, general director of the Opera, this distinction was awarded to him at the end of the performance of the ballet Paquita by Pierre Lacotte, in which she played the title role, on the stage of the Opéra Bastille.
Born in 1995 in North Macedonia, Roxane Stojanov showed exceptional talent for dance very early on. After starting her training at the age of eight in her hometown, she went to Brussels, where she continued her studies before joining the dance school of the Paris National Opera in 2007. Her career within the company proves to be dazzling: hired in 2013 in the corps de ballet, she quickly climbed the ranks, becoming coryphée in 2016, subject in 2018, and principal dancer in 2022.
Over the years, Roxane Stojanov has performed numerous solo roles and played major characters in the classical and contemporary repertoire. She notably shone in emblematic ballets such as Giselle (in the role of Myrtha), La Sylphide, Nutcracker, Don Quixote et Swan Lake. She has also participated in numerous creations and entries in the repertoire, notably under the direction of great choreographers such as William Forsythe, Mats Ek, and Benjamin Millepied. His versatility and his ability to adapt to a wide variety of styles have allowed him to find a place of choice in the company.
