The city of Dieppe (Seine-Maritime) no longer has a store dedicated to board games. However, this does not mean that the community of board or card game enthusiasts is non-existent there.
As proof, a new association has just been created. Baptized Ludi & Cauxit aims to bring people together around this leisure activity.
“I played mainly with my wife, but only with two people, there are limits,” concedes Benjamin Hardy, president of the association. By searching on social media, we found other people to play with.”
A group was then formed and one of the members, Matthias Maglio, launched the idea of an association. “I wanted us to have a place to meet,” recalls the man who is now treasurer.
Open to all
The goal of Ludi & Caux is simple. “We want to introduce people to board, board and card games in groups,” explains Lucie Lecomte, vice-president. The association organizes game evenings.
“We bring games, but people can also bring the games they like,” emphasizes Matthias Maglio, who adds that there is also the possibility of requesting specific games from the association.
“We are open to beginners as well as experienced ones,” explains Benjamin Hardy. We want to show people our passion in a good atmosphere. We don’t just limit ourselves to card games, for example. »
The first evening took place on Wednesday December 4 at the Maison des Associations in Dieppe, it brought together ten people.
The association does not intend to stop there: “Our goal is to develop. We can imagine events in partnership with local shops or other associations,” says the treasurer.
A lifelong passion
If Ludi & Caux has currently gathered on Wednesdays at the association house, it plans to decentralize its evenings outside the city center.
“We made a request to have the Levasseur room in Janval,” explains Matthias Maglio. There is little meeting time, at least on this topic, in other neighborhoods.” “And the room lends itself to it, it’s easy to access,” adds Benjamin Hardy.
For office members, board games are a passion for a long time. “Since I was little, I have been used to playing board games in my family. But I am the only one today who continues to play,” confides Lucie Lecomte.
“I have three sisters so to play when I was younger, it wasn’t difficult,” explains the treasurer. Then I continued to play alongside the game libraries. » The one who is now an animator at the Maison Jacques-Prévert, and who therefore frequents the game library there, believes that he has “never stopped playing”.
