A day dedicated to rural and agricultural issues on the big screen.
Sunday December 15, Ciné32, always engaged in the issues of rurality and its representations in cinema, is organizing an entire day dedicated to rural and agricultural issues. This event, called Les Toiles Paysannes, will be held in partnership with several organizations from the farming world: ADEAR, the CCFD Terre Solidaire, the French Agroforestry Association, the Confédération Paysanne, Les Amis de la Conf’du Gers and Solidarité Peasants.
Films and conferences
The day will revolve around three films, a round table and a peasant meal. The afternoon will be devoted to the screening of two documentaries: The Forest Maker and Anaïs, 2 chapters. The first documentary explores peasant farming practices on the African continent, while the second focuses on France. Between the two sessions, a conference meeting will allow these questions to be explored in greater depth with interventions by Christian Trouche from CCFD-Terre Solidaire and Romain Florent, spokesperson for the Confédération Paysanne du Gers.
At the end of the day, a peasant meal prepared by the CinéBistro team using organic and local products will be served. The day will conclude with the screening of “Vingt Dieux” by Louise Courvoisier, a social comedy which paints the portrait of a youth little represented in the cinema and offers an ode to the humanity of the countryside, without miserabilism or angelism. Throughout the day, the Sarrant bookstore will offer a selection of books related to the farming world.
At a time when debates on Mercosur are raging, Ciné32 and its partners want to enrich the discussion on small-scale agriculture in France and underline the importance of its development on a global scale. The objective is to remove agricultural and food issues from purely economic logic.
