CORDELE, Ga. (WALB) -The sentencing of former Cordele city commissioner, Royce Reeves, was scheduled for this afternoon, but Maurice King, Reeves’ attorney, requested to file an undisclosed motion causing the sentencing to be delayed.
Judge Chastine plans to review the motion this week, and announced that the sentencing will now take place one week from today, on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
The former Cordele city commissioner was found guilty on a violation of oath by a public officer, criminal trespass, and obstruction of an officer misdemeanor on Thursday, Nov. 21. These charges stem from an arrest that occurred back in June 2021.
He was found not guilty of obstruction of an officer felony, disorderly conduct, and count 4 of obstruction of an officer.
At a later date, Reeves will go to trial once more after he was charged with conspiracy to sell marijuana, Gang Act B, Gang Act B, use of a communication facility and RICO in July of this year.
