The rights to the sequel to “Slumdog Millionaire” have been acquired by Bridge7.

The new Los Angeles-based production company – led by Swati Shetty and CAA agent Grant Kessman – has negotiated a deal with British company Celador.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bridge7 owns the cinematic sequel and television rights to Danny Boyle’s film.

Celador, who financed and produced the original film, will work with the new rights holders on the sequel.

In 2008, “Slumdog Millionaire” was a breakout role for Dev Patel and won eight Academy Awards in 2009, as well as Best Picture.

The directors of Bridge7 released a joint statement: “Some stories stick with us long after the credits roll, and ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ is undoubtedly one of them. Its storytelling is universal, transcends cultural and geographic boundaries, and embodies the kind of stories we love – those that bridge entertainment and profound human experiences. »
