A monument of French song that no one is ready to forget. On October 1, 2018, Charles Aznavour passed away at the age of 94. Six years later, it was first in the cinema that the memory of the man who left his mark on several generations was revived with “Monsieur Aznavour”. Since October 23, the biopic, directed by Mehdi Idir and Grand Corps Malade, centered on the career of the late artist, has already recorded enormous success. A month after its release, it is now in music that a new tribute to Charles Aznavour has seen the light of day.
This November 23, the French actor, who would have been 100 years old this year, punctuated the Palais des Congrès during an exceptional evening, organized by his son, Mischa. This place was the “favorite” room of the Franco-Armenian singer-songwriter, who often welcomed her throughout her life. Entitled “Aznavour Celebration – the official tribute”, the musical show was rocked by the eighty musicians of the Douai symphony orchestra, led by conductor Vahan Mardirossian. From “La Bohème”, to “Emmenez-moi” via “We will see each other again one day or another”, several of his titles have been revisited.

His legendary film roles in “The Hatter’s Ghosts”, “A Taxi for Tobrouck”, and “Shoot the Pianist” were also highlighted on a giant screen. Symbolically, it was his friend Michel Drucker who played the master of ceremonies to host the concert. A role that was close to the heart of the French presenter who has long been a neighbor of the Aznavour family property in Provence.

Thomas Dutronc and Alain Chamfort: beautiful tribute in song
All set up to attend the concert, renowned celebrities took their seats in the room, which was filled. Several of them came as a couple, such as Daniela Lumbroso and her husband Éric Ghebali, Chantal Ladesou and her husband Maichel Ansault as well as Laurent Olmedo and his partner Marion. Among the personalities present, we could also find Brigitte Fossey, Damien Thévenot, Dominique Besnehard, Bernard le Coq and Hervé Pouchol. In the audience, Charles Aznavour’s granddaughter Leïla Kallouche was also seen.
Some artists, for their part, wanted to pay tribute to Charles Aznavour, directly on stage. This is the case of Thomas Dutronc, who covered his title “Les deux guitares”, which the two singers had already performed together in 2008. Alain Chamfort was also accompanied by the orchestra on the sound “Sa jeunesse”, released in 1994.
