After years of preparation, the director and writer Ayoub Qanir unveils the first images of its adventure movie “The Black Pearl”. This project combines action, exploration and mythology. It transports the viewer to the heart of a Morocco spectacular. These first images offer a promising glimpse of a film of Hollywood dimensions, shot on Moroccan soil, and reveal all the grandeur of this adventure.
The idea of “The Black Pearl” germinated in the mind of the director Ayoub Qanir more than ten years ago. Passionate about the big ones films d’action Hollywood films such as “The Hunt for the Green Diamond”, “Back to the Future” or even “Top Gun”, Qanir dreamed of making a film of the same caliber, but anchored in wealth and diversity of Morocco. “It’s a film that draws its inspiration from the great epic productions that I have always loved. This film tells the story of a young man, Salah, who fights to change his destiny, in a context where adventure and courage mingle with the discovery of an ancient mystery,” explains the director. “The Black Pearl” is intended to be a thrilling adventure, where heroism, surpassing oneself and the hope of changing the world are at the heart of the plot. “We wanted to offer the Moroccan public a new genre, a thrilling adventure in grandiose settings. The story follows Salah, a young man determined to change his life and his future, through a perilous journey to discover the first meteorite never fell on Earth, “The Black Pearl”,” explains Ayoub Qanir.
The first images of the film reveal an ambitious staging, supported by photography which captures the beauty and immensity of the Moroccan landscapes, while creating an intense atmosphere. The director and his team have made it a point of honor to use the best cinematographic techniques and equipment to bring this great adventure to life. “We took advantage of the diversity of Moroccan landscapes, ranging from modern architecture to historical and natural sites. THE Morocco is a fascinating setting, which offers an impressive variety of scenery, from the sea to the mountains to the dunes. It’s this Morocco that we wanted to highlight,” explains Qanir.
With his training in management and finance, supplemented by his studies in directing at the Lee Strasberg Film Institute in Los Angeles, Ayoub Qanir was able to combine his passion for cinema with rigorous project management. “Every shoot is a challenge. My international experience in finance and management allowed me to bring this film to fruition, despite the logistical and technical challenges. It was a collective effort and I am extremely proud of the result,” he says.
In “The Black Pearl”, Salah, a young mechanical engineer, dreams of becoming an aviator officer in the Moroccan Air Force. After failing his gravity test, he must wait for another chance to realize his dream. But a criminal organization, Bendek Technologies, is looking for a precious artifact hidden in Morocco for more than 500,000 years: the “Venus”, an ancient tablet bearing the secret location of the first meteorite to fall on Earth. Salah, with the help of his friends and the authorities, embarks on a perilous adventure, confronting unimaginable dangers to protect his village and all of humanity.
