And 4! There are now four municipalities in to participate in the system Cinema-Relax. A device for people with disabilities. After Cadillac, and Saint-André-de-Cubzac, the town of Eysines organized its first inclusive screening at the Jean Renoir cinema this Saturday afternoon.

The objective of Ciné-Relax is twofold: promote access to culture but also fight against social exclusion for people with disabilities leading to atypical behavior. With the same objective of accessibility for all, These sessions are offered at a reduced rate (5 euros 50). They are of course intended to be ordinary and they are also open to everyone.

Technical arrangements, volunteers available

They still ask some adjustments starting with the absence of a trailer or advertising spot before the session. Instead, a short introductory film of a few seconds is shown to present the device and above all reduce concentration time. The room has also undergone some changes, as Clémence Ravion, the project leader at Eysines town hall, points out: “We installed a light dimmer to lower it gradually and not all at once as usual. The sound is also much quieter than during a classic session.”

In the four corners of the room, we can also see blue vests. “These are volunteers who have been trained to accompany people from the entrance. We can even say from the parking lot in order to clearly identify the room. They give a short briefing to all the spectators and inside, they are at available to everyone”, explains Clémence Ravion. Volunteers equipped like Sandrine: “Already, we are clearly visible, we have a little light to help people move around if they need it and we also have a small packet of tissues just in case.”

“We also have the right to have a social life”

“Here, no one is judged, calls Marjorie, the programmer, into the microphone before the session begins. We have the right to express our emotions, to applaud, to vocalize, to enter, to leave the room. This is absolutely no problem.” The objective is to be as relaxed as possible, as the name of the device indicates. Sophie came with her hearing-impaired granddaughter: “It’s really good because I find that there are very few things that are put in place for people with disabilities.” And above all, it’s not always easy to go to a traditional session. Elena is the mother of Charlie, 10 years old, who suffers from behavioral disorders: “It’s not easy to see other people’s eyes, especially reactions. It’s often very embarrassing and as we don’t like to be annoying, we often leave.”

This type of device is therefore a blessing for her: “It’s very nice to think of us. Yes, we have a slightly different background, but we also have the right to have a social life, to go to the movies, to be accepted wherever we go and stay. feel good.” And for that, she will now be able to come and see a film once a month with her son at the Ciné-Relax in Eysines. Next session will be Saturday December 14 at 3:30 p.m. with the animated film: Vaïana 2.
