Coldplay had a nice surprise in store for their fans. The band, who performed at the Glastonbury Festival this weekend, invited actor Michael J. Fox on stage to play guitar. “With his Chuck Berry riff and the way he hit Biff: ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Michael J Fox”, Chris Martin said to the delirious crowd. The star of the films Back to the futurewho has been battling Parkinson’s disease for more than 30 years, appeared on stage in a wheelchair with his guitar. Chris Martin then recalled that the actor’s musical performance in Back to the future had been a source of inspiration for him and his musicians in the late 1990s. “The main reason we are a band is because we were watching ‘Back to the Future,’ so thank you to our forever hero and one of the most amazing people on Earth, Mr. Michael J. Fox!”launched the star who had already invited the actor on stage in 2016 during a concert in New Jersey.

Became a star thanks to his character Marty McFly in the trilogy Back to the future (filmed between 1985 and 1990), Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991. After a period of depression, he resumed his career, particularly in television, and launched a private foundation that funds medical research. In November 2022, he was awarded an honorary Oscar for his work in the fight against this neurodegenerative disease that affects some 10 million people worldwide.
