The actress revealed that she was rewatching old episodes of the cult sitcom to keep alive the memory of Matthew Perry, who died in October 2023. “Honestly, I wasn’t able to watch them (before) because it is too embarrassing to look at yourself. But if I make it into a movie about Matthew, then that’s fine,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. It’s just to celebrate how hilarious he was – and that’s what I want to remember (him). »

The 60-year-old, who played Phoebe opposite Matthew Perry’s Chandler for a decade from 1994 to 2004, told the newspaper she “laughed out loud” watching her “hilarious” co-stars.

“I am blown away by Courteney Cox. I am blown away by Jen(nifer Aniston). Matthew, obviously, is just hilarious. No one knew this cadence or this comic rhythm before him. Matt LeBlanc is hilarious. And David Schwimmer too. Sometimes I even laugh at what I did,” she said.

Lisa Kudrow added that rewatching the episodes brought back fond memories of filming the series.

“We laughed all day, between scenes, because they are funny people. And especially someone like Matthew, whose goal was: “How many laughs can I get in real life every day?” So we were always laughing so hard that tears were rolling down our faces,” she recalls.

When asked how she hoped everyone would remember Matthew Perry, she said, “I think the world already remembers him the way he wanted to.” »

The Canadian actor died in October at the age of 54 following a ketamine overdose. A criminal investigation into his death is underway.
