The first edition was the one of the hatching. The second must be the one of the confirmation. And for the moment, what we can say is that it is set to be the case. Even Elmer Food Beat affirmed it on stage: “We will come back for the 20th anniversary of the festival”. The message has been received. For the first evening, Friday June 28, the public responded massively as soon as the doors of L’Irréductible festival opened, in Quimper. According to the organizers, more than 4,500 people invaded the Kerourien plain. That is almost half of the total number of the public who came last year.

More than 4,500 festival-goers

“We saw the light, we went in,” smiles Philippe, 59 years old. “Joking aside, we really liked it last year so we came back,” he adds. “We’ve done a lot of festivals and we hadn’t done this one yet. The organization is really great and the programming is very nice,” adds Didier, 59 years old.

Friday evening, from the first concert of Spreaders, the rock group born in Pays Bigouden, we felt that a crazy evening was in preparation. “It’s even better than last year when it was already very well organized. Frankly, it’s worthy of a festival that has existed for a long time,” underlines Adeline, 33 years old. “They have improved a lot of things and there are more people,” adds Isabelle, 58, happy to be able to access such an event just a few steps from her home.

A festival “five minutes from home”

“In Quimper, there’s not much to party in. Here, it’s really nice to be able to come to a festival right next door,” says Ludivine, 26. “It’s our first time here and it’s clearly well organized. Access is very easy and you can see that it’s very family-oriented. It’s perfect for a good night out. And above all, it’s five minutes from home,” smiles Franck, 45, who came mainly to attend the concert by the crazy Nantais group Elmer Food Beat. “We’ve been following them since we were young,” adds his colleague, Guillaume, 47.

“It helps clear your head”

“A festival allows you to escape. It’s about sharing. We don’t care who’s who, who earns how much, who comes from where. It’s a mix and we’re all together,” adds the forty-year-old, referring to the current political context. A context that’s hard to ignore less than two days before the legislative elections. “It’s even more important to party right now. They actually had a great imitative with the sausage pancakes,” smiles Ludivine, 26.

“It helps you clear your head. It feels good,” notes Sarah, 21. “The current context? It shouldn’t stop us from smiling. Even if the current situation is very serious, it’s important to continue to party so as not to fall into depression,” says Maëva. For his part, Didier, 59, is categorical: “This weekend, even if we’re going to vote on Sunday of course, we’re going to try to ignore the context. We still have to party because we only have one life,” explains Didier, 59. The final word went to the singer of the group Diamond & Ze Kats: “Vote intelligently on Sunday.”
