Australian Christopher Esber, Frenchman Emeric Tchatchoua, from 3.Paradis, and Dutchman Christian Heikoop, from Maeden, were crowned Thursday evening in the gardens of the Ministry of Culture by judges worthy of those at the Cannes Film Festival.

« It was quite crazy to chat with women, Catherine Deneuve, Carla Bruni, who have inspired my collections for years, tells us Christopher Esber, awarded Thursday evening the Andam 2024 grand prize (endowed with €300,000). This 35-year-old Australian, who launched his label around ten years ago, charmed the jury with his hand-tailored fashion tinged with cut-out sensuality.

And what a jury! Around the president of this 35th edition of Andam and artistic director of Saint Laurent, Anthony Vaccarello, the CEOs of the biggest fashion brands (Chanel, Hermès, Balenciaga, Chloé, etc.), Catherine Deneuve, Carla Bruni, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Virginie Despentes (via video), Béatrice Dalle, director Gaspar Noé, and Virginie Efira, visibly delighted with the experience: “ Anthony asked me to participate in this competition, which he himself won (in 2011).He is a designer that I admire and a person that I love very much. It was therefore the opportunity to find him as well as Catherine, Béatrice, Virginie. In this jury, there were both very specialized people in fashion, working in this sector for many years, and then others who have an emotional interest in clothing without having a very in-depth knowledge of it. I believe that Christopher’s work, through its simplicity and a certain obviousness that is striking, even when you don’t know fashion well, was unanimous. »

Also awarded were the chic streetwear of Frenchman Emeric Tchatchoua, from 3.Paradis, winner of the special prize (worth €100,000) and the second-skin leather bags of Christian Heikoop, creator of Maeden, winner of the fashion accessories prize (worth €100,000).The jury included fewer fashion experts than usual, and therefore rewarded talents not for the relevance of their business models as has been the case in the past, but for the energy they have knew how to convey during their presentationssummarizes Guillaume Houzé, president of Andam and director of image and communications for the Galeries Lafayette group. This competition is celebrating its 35th anniversary and, every year, we work to reinvent ourselves with the appointment of our president of the jury, the incarnation of one of our partner houses. Which makes it a very open competition, but with lasting foundations thanks to the support of public partners and leading players in this industry, of what is best in creation in France and in the world. Next year it will be LVMH and it should also be an interesting edition. »
