Kate Middleton’s cancer: how the illness pushed William and Harry even further apart

It’s been a difficult year for the Windsor clan. After the announcement in February of King Charles III’s cancer, it’s Kate Middleton, aged just 42, who announced that she herself had abdominal cancer. “Last January I underwent invasive abdominal surgery in London. At the time we thought my condition was not cancerous. However, scans after the operation showed that cancer was present,” announced the Princess of Wales in a video broadcast on social networks on March 22, 2024.

If all these trials could have united the British royal family, it seems that they are doing quite the opposite. During an interview with the television channel GB News, the former royal reporter Michael Cole says Kate Middleton’s cancer may have driven a wedge between Princes William and Harryon bad terms since the latter left for the United States in 2020.

“Harry and Meghan have not shown great concern” after Kate’s cancer announcement

“William has always done his duty, unlike Harry. I don’t think a reconciliation can take place in the near future, he told British television.
There is too much resentment. William is not going to forgive, especially since Harry and his wife have made personal attacks on his own wife, Kate.”

The Prince of Wales would particularly criticize his younger brother for not having shown compassion when his wife was diagnosed with cancer. “Even when the cancer was announced, Harry and Meghan reacted a little strangely. They didn’t show any great concern.”

A brief statement that leaves a chill

Following the shock announcement of the princess’s illness, the Sussex couple reacted in a statement via the magazine Harper’s Bazaar.
We wish health and recovery to Kate and her family.and we hope that they will be able to devote themselves to it in private and in peace.“, they wrote. Deemed brief and laconic, this press release had cast an icy wind on the British royal family, which definitely does not seem ready to recover from past differences.

Never mind, Kate Middleton can fortunately count on the support of her husband, her children and her father-in-law, King Charles III. Also ill, the sovereign would be, according to Buckingham Palace, “in close contact with his beloved daughter-in-law” since diagnosis.
