Unlike the previous year when the festival was postponed outside the summer period, that is to say in September, this cultural and artistic event returns to its initial date which is the beginning of July, to launch the summer season in Agadir.

After 19 years of existence, a new chapter in the history of Timitar opens. The 19th edition of the Timitar festival will kick off on the evening of Thursday July 4, 2024, in Agadir, on three stages. These are Al Amal Square and the Green Theater while Al Wahda Square will welcome, like previous years, music lovers and artists of the new generation.

Unlike the previous year when the festival was postponed outside the summer period, that is to say in September, this cultural and artistic event returns to its initial date which is the beginning of July, to launch the summer season in Agadir.

As a result, Timitar will offer this year more than 40 shows hosted by a range of groups. True to its spirit based on an Amazigh dimension open to the international, “this 19th edition is a celebration of musical diversity, a crossroads where cultures from all over the world meet. We are eager to share this unique experience with the public,” says Brahim El Mazned, artistic director of Timitar.

A program faithful to the festival’s leitmotif
As in previous years, the musical and artistic programming focused on the values ​​of living together and the leitmotif of the festival (Amazigh artists welcome their counterparts from around the world) will pay tribute to the Amazigh heritage with emblematic figures such as Hamid Inerzaf and Oudaden as well as traditional groups such as the Ahouach of Taliouine, Tata and Imin Tanout.

The new generation will be represented by Fatima Tachtoukt, Karim Lajwad, Joubantouja, Tassouta N’Imal, Meteor Airlines and Ribab Fusion. As for the shows by Rrayssates and Rrways, scheduled at the Théâtre de la verdure, they will highlight the richness of the Amazigh musical and poetic tradition.

Also, fans of fusion and Arab pop will vibrate to the rhythm of the concerts of Faia Younan, the voice of Syria, Hamza Namira, the Egyptian star, Abu, the artist behind the hit “3 Daqat”, Oum, the Moroccan diva who will present her new album “Dakchi”, Douzi, the Moroccan prodigy of Raï, Zakaria Ghafouli and Hasba Groove, who revisits chaâbi with a modern touch.

A musical journey through Africa
Furthermore, this 19th edition of Timitar will also offer a musical journey across Africa with Les Amazones d’Afrique and the Cesaria Orchestra, which will pay a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Cesaria Evora in the presence of artists Elida Almeida, Ceuzany and Taofillo Chantre.

The African music scene will also be in the spotlight with renowned artists such as Kel Assouf, Imed Alibi and Justin Adams, as well as Ali Amran, ardent defender of Amazigh heritage. Jazz and soul lovers will be delighted by the presence of Jamaaladeen Tacuma, virtuoso bassist from Philadelphia, emblematic figure of the jazz fusion scene. Accompanied by talented artists from Agadir, Mehdi Qamoum and Saïd Ozous, he promises a performance mixing jazz, funk, R&B and world music.

In addition, Timitar 2024 will highlight the rap scene with two artists with unique universes: Dada, a rapper from Agadir who skillfully mixes Darija, Amazigh and English in his lyrics, and Dystinct, an international urban artist whose success transcends borders. Finally, and for fans of electronic music, Timitar 2024 has a program dedicated to this scene.
