La Petite’s positive and activist festival, Girls Don’t Cry, is taking over the Cabane de la Cartoucherie for its fourth edition. The opportunity to discover creative worlds, to fill up on electronic, frenzied or experimental music, and to enjoy a bubble of inclusiveness during a gentle, but engaged event.
This year, the event powered by the La Petite association is set up near La Cartoucherie, from November 22 to 23. On the program, always this clever mix of avant-garde electronic music, techno evenings, cocooning moments, and highlighting creative, feminist or queer worlds. All in a caring and safe environment, notably maintained by the “Main forte” and “Let’s celebrate more, let’s risk less” associations.
Last year, more than 1,000 festival-goers went to the Metronum and some evenings were sold out. So, for this edition, La Petite is thinking bigger. “The Cabin is more imposing, more vertical, and we think of it as a refuge away from the storms. The concerts will be upstairs, with a tier for sitting and resting between two dance steps. On the ground floor, there will be makeup stands, second-hand clothes, illustration or photo exhibitions,” explains Camille Mathon, the artistic director of the festivities.
Two whirlwind evenings and an afternoon to recover
Friday evening will be pop, with a drag cabaret, followed by a futuristic live performance by Violet Indigo and S Diama, before a high-energy DJ set by PÖ. Saturday will first feature a fashion show from the Casa Mirail school, followed by unique DJ sets orchestrated by Inès Cherifi then MounQup, before the evening ends with the BPM of Miss Sheitana and LEGIT GIRL DJ.
The atmosphere will completely change on Sunday. “Podcasts will be recorded and the concerts will take place in a smaller space. It will be more ambient or experimental music, which we can listen to while sitting or lying down, like in a cozy cocoon rather than a party!”, promises Camille . On this day, entry is free. Enough to rest after having been partying until two in the morning the evenings before.
