The “First Time” Award
Each year, the festival highlights upcoming comics talents. This involves its programming and its “First Time” prize, worth 1,500 euros and awarded to a first book of comic literature that was published during the year. This year, the reading committee, made up of six professional booksellers, members of the organizing team, and illustrators, awarded this prize to Camille Potte for her album “Ballades” published by Atrabile editions. This one is set in a delirious Middle Ages universe with a prince transformed into a frog, a princess, a valiant knight, a hallucinated salamander, a cantankerous witch, an unbearable minstrel and music-loving frogs…
The Nougaro Prize
Pierre Mischieri-Peillet, winner of the 17th Nougaro prize in the Occitanie comics category last May, was invited to this opening evening and received an honorary trophy. This Tarnais is the author of a comic strip on the song of the Canuts, a song written in 1894 by Aristide Bruant celebrating the worker revolts of the Lyon silk artisans, the first actors in the class struggle in Europe.
Young Talent Awards
These prizes reward the creative work done by budding artists around a subject proposed this year by Charlotte Bresler, author hosted in residence in Colomiers and distinguished by the Young Talents prize at the Angoulême 2024 festival.
Participants competed in three categories: 6/12 year olds, teenagers and adults. Three winners were called in each category. They received lira checks in the amount of 150 euros for the first in each category, 100 euros for the second, and 70 euros for the third. Mizuki, Lucile and Nola stood out in the first category. Anouk, Jodie and Nahel in the second and Elliot S., Justine R. and Louise G. in the last. A special mention was awarded to Julien G. also called Voisin.
