Ten years after disappearing from the screens, the Hollywood star will star in a Netflix action comedy expected for next January.
Cameron Diaz is back in action. After a decade away from film sets, the American actress plays one of the leading roles in Back in Actiona Netflix action comedy which is revealed this Friday, November 15 in a trailer. The film will be available on January 17, 2025 on the platform.
The star of Charlie’s Angels There she will opposite Jamie Foxx, with whom she plays a couple of fifty-year-olds put away after years of work for the CIA. While living in a residential suburb where they started a family, they are forced to return to their spy activities when their cover is blown.
Double come-back
A tailor-made role for the 52-year-old actress, who also abandoned her career for a long time to devote herself to her family life. Revealed in 1994 for her role in The Mask alongside Jim CarreyCameron Diaz has had a string of successes for twenty years (My Best Friend’s Wedding, In the shoes of John Malkovich, Vanilla Sky, Gangs of New York, Bad Teacher…) before disappearing with a final role in the film Anniealready alongside Jamie Foxx, in 2015.
She formalized her retirement in 2018 during an interview for Entertainment Weekly. Since then, she has welcomed her first child with her husband Benji Madden in 2020.
Back in Action also marks the symbolic return of Jamie Foxx. The 56-year-old actor was urgently hospitalized in April 2023, while working on the film’s set in Atlanta. Four months later, he declared be handed over: “It’s been a dark and unplanned journey. But I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.” The nature of his health problem has never been specified.
