French song in all its splendor at the Les Givrées Festival in Millau

This will be the 4th edition of the Givrées festival in from January 17 to 25.

The French song to warm up Millau in the middle of January. This will be the fourth edition in January 2025. The collective who set up the festival from scratch unveiled the program this Tuesday, November 12.

A wide range of artists, both in terms of styles and the generations they represent. “Every year we try to go further with the values that run through the collective,” introduces Stéphane Chatellard, the director of the Maison du Peuple theater.

Outside Millau

Seven highlights are organized between January 17 and 25. The first will not take place in Millau, but in Roquefort, Montlaur and Buzeins, on January 17, 18 and 19 respectively. The group No Mad will perform there. “They have a particular scenography, presents Maïlys Bessière, member of the collective. It’s anachronistic, without electricity, whether for the voice, the instruments but also the light, everything is lit by candles. It fits their musical style and their desire to take over the theaters like clearings.”

To stick, precisely, to the philosophy of the group of five artists, atypical places were chosen. In Roquefort, No Mad will play in the Marcorelle room, limited to 60 people. “A small vaulted room, loaned by Society”, specifies Stéphane Chatellard. In Montlaur, the Magali home was selected. It is a deconsecrated church where only 80 people can be accommodated. In Buzeins, more classic, the concert will take place in the Salle des Dolmens.

The Frosted ones off stage

The Les Givrées festival is not limited to theaters and stages. It is also exported to unique places for original moments. The Hubert Hits formula returns on January 18, 22 and 23. The principle is simple: singers travel to deliver songs to homes. An exhibition will also take place at the Maison de Région from January 10 to 25 “Disc varnish”. A breakfast concert will be organized on January 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in a location still kept secret. On January 22, the Millau cinema will broadcast Pretty pretty from Diastema, a musical comedy with Clara Luciani.

“Friendly” rap

In a completely different register, the actress Manon Gilbert aka Petite Gueule, rapper from Seine-Saint-Denis in a unique style, will be on stage at the Maison du Peuple on January 23 (8:30 p.m.). “She has a very offbeat musical rap, describes Philippe Valentin, member of the collective. She deals with serious subjects, but in a very friendly way and on stage it’s rather funny to see.”

Nicolas Jules will be “the red thread artist”, in the words of the theater director. It will offer three times during the festival. “He is a poet of French song. A concert will be offered at the René-Rieux hall on January 23 at 6:15 p.m. where we will take care of the acoustics.” Otherwise, he will be opening for Emily Loizeau on January 24 and January 25 as a trio. The latter, Franco-British, has been releasing albums since 2006. “She has a delicate timbre, notes Marie-Hélène Robert, from the collective. She showed the splendor of her tone with accuracy, the voice and the sound are well rhythmic.”

Fans will also have the opportunity to listen to Tom Poisson, a unique character. “He came up very quickly, he is already on his eighth album, he has a committed and poetic writing style, his lyrics are well written, traces the director of the theater. We want to be his pole!” He will be on stage at the René-Rieux Hall on January 24 at 6:15 p.m. The detailed program can be found on the theater website.
