Fourvière 2024: Pamela Badjogo continues her musical rise

Pamela Badjogo is a voice, a temperament and a mission, that of sharing her music with as many people as possible.

The singer born in Libreville, Gabon, was first a backing vocalist for artists like Salif Keita, Oumou Sangaré and Tiken Jah Fakoly.

After going solo in 2016, Paméla Badjogo continues her rise and begins the festival season with a bang. Invited to open for Angélique Kidjo during the Fourvière nights in Lyon, she is delighted to be able to show her musical universe inspired by a multicultural heritage. On stage, she performs a few songs, including those from her third album. Sung in particular in Bakaningui, Gabonese patois, the opus is entitled Yie

“I released a new album called Yieh, like letting go, and here we are in the middle of the tour, not all artists have the chance to tour and we have the chance to do it so I’m really grateful, there’s this pleasure of sharing your music to an audience who doesn’t necessarily know us.” Declares Paméla Badjogo, singer artist

Artist and mother, Pamela proves that this combination is far from incompatible. A feminist, she is satisfied to see that the world of entertainment has evolved to adapt to the daily demands of women today.

“This is one of the things that we denounce and defend, today, I am very happy that the vast majority of programmers now understand that you can be a mother and an artist at the same time, so if I cannot do my scales at 2 p.m. because I need to drop my daughter off at school, the programmers understand this very well, and this is also one of the victories of feminism.” Adds the singer and feminist.

An artist engaged in several battles, Paméla Badjogo is godmother of the Karama school for the education of girls in Mali and ambassador of “Fées-ministres”, a collective supporting women in their legal proceedings against domestic assaults in France.
