American pop superstar Justin Timberlake appeared immediately in court in New York on Tuesday, after being arrested overnight for drunk driving in the east of the megalopolis, according to the local press.

The Sag Harbor police, on the big island of Long Island, did not confirm to AFP the information revealed by local media and the celebrity press.

Justin Timberkale was arrested in this town, located in the ultra-upscale corner of the Hamptons, while driving a car around 12:30 a.m. local time (04 a.m. GMT).

According to the police report to which CBS had access, the 43-year-old singer, producer and actor was “in a drunken state”his “bloodshot eyes, while his breath smelled of alcohol.” The star reportedly replied to the police officer that he had “drank a Martini and followed (his) friends home”.

Justin Timberlake appeared immediately in court in Sag Harbor around 9:30 a.m. (1:30 p.m. GMT) according to CBS.
Some 150 km from New York City, the Hamptons are known for being home to the sumptuous residences of many great American and foreign fortunes.

A “prince of pop”

Member of the boy band NSYNC (1995-2002), the “prince of pop” then launched a solo career as singer, songwriter, producer and actor which propelled him to the rank of global icon of music.

He has won 10 Grammy Awards and four Emmys, the Academy Awards of music and television.

The star was in a relationship with Britney Spears between 1999 and 2002 and the American singer recounted last October in her memoirs that she had an abortion, reluctantly and at the request of Justin Timberlake, during their relationship.
