The municipal team of Saint-Pierre-des-Fleurs (Eure) wanted to breathe new life into its literary encounters. Friday June 14, 2024 at the end of the afternoon, the public could meet three authors: Michel Bussi, Romain Puértolas and Gordon Zolaaround an aperitif dinner at the town’s association hall.

Frédéric Gérin and Nathalie Ricard, both municipal councilors, organized the evening. The public, who came in large numbers, neara hundred people, appreciated the presentation of each author, with their tastes, their way of writing and some of their works. Secondly, a free discussion with the public, where everyone asked their questions, animated the evening in complete conviviality.

We no longer present Michel Bussioriginally from Louviers who affirms that he “always enjoys participating in the numerous Norman literary salons and particularly in Saint-Pierre-des-Fleurs, for which (he) is becoming a regular”.

The writer claims to be one of the rare ones in France to write “trick” novels, with dramatic twists, or ultimately, we can find two novels in one. He explained at length about the use of the literary twist, which pushes the reader at the end of the work to a new interpretation of the text, so as to appreciate the story differently. That evening he presented several books, including his latest novel My heart has moved, whose plot mixes love and friendships, an initiatory story and manipulations, a story of implacable revenge. Michel Bussi also draws an unprecedented social fresco of the 1990s with this new thriller.

Romain Puértolas writes burlesque books, and positions his works “between absurd and fantasy”. He is a great admirer of Jules Verne and Hergé. Since 2008, he has been writing adventure novels where a change of scenery is king.

Gordon Zola, for his part, practices “high-dose wackiness”. “My works always have a good literary quality. Writers are artists before being literary people. I like to mix the artisan and the acrobat,” he emphasizes!

The buffet awaited authors and the public, and discussions went well, followed by a signing session. The organizers wish to invite at least one author every year to share with them a taste for beautiful writing.
