Male revelation at the Victoires de la Musique in 2021, Hervé releases his third album entitled “Adrénaline”. After a detour through the French touch of the 1990s and hip-hop on his previous album, the French singer returns to this more pop and rock sound which distinguished him four years ago.

The cover is good, but not the songs. During the pressing of singer Hervé’s latest CD, the factory made a mistake. Instead, she recorded the new album by Puerto Rican artist Luis Fonsi, famous for his hit “Despacito”. But not enough to eclipse the Frenchman’s new album, “Adrénaline”, available on vinyl and on platforms before being quickly repressed on CD.

After “Hyper” (2020) then “Interior Vie” (2023), the 33-year-old self-taught singer-musician explores in “Adrenaline” the contours between blues, new wave and an improbable crossover of Plastic Bertrand with M. A more varied style which he masters, having co-written in his early days, with producer Yodelice, three tracks for Johnny Hallyday’s posthumous album released in 2018.

However, Hervé says he is closer to Anglo-Saxon music, citing in particular The Streets, Oasis and the Chemical Brothers. He recorded his new album in England.

British pop-rock in the spotlight

“Adrenaline” is thus nourished by the sounds of British pop-rock. There is rhythm, pulsations and groove which are for once counterbalanced by slowdowns in tempo. But these collisions contain too much English influence to be fully seductive. To the point of even being embarrassing at times when Hervé borrows the rhythmic and melodic framework of Pulp’s “Common People” for “Summer Hit”.

In 2020, Hervé became known thanks to his song which quickly became a hit, entitled “Si bien du mal”, which today is close to six million views on YouTube. With his breathy, muffled-whispered voice with contours of nonchalance and even insolence, Hervé stands out, recalling at times Alain Bashung from his “Gaby oh Gaby” era, in the 1980s. While on “Sémaphore”, he (re) plays “The wind will carry us” by Noir Désir.

The fact remains that from the first parts of Eddy de Pretto until the Grand stage of the Paléo, solo, last year, the singer revealed himself especially on stage as an electric battery. He has a nice journey dotted with a touch of irony, since in real life his name is Hervé Le Sourd.
