After YouTubers and athletes, it’s the turn of the actors to mobilize. As the early legislative elections approach, on June 30 and July 7, Marion Cotillard took a public position by publishing a selfie on her Instagram account. In the image liked more than 86,000 times, the French actress wears a denim jacket decorated with numerous pins, one of which particularly attracted attention.

“Tours 03.18.92, the youth piss off the National Front”, it is written there. A vintage badge that refers to a phrase sung by the French punk group Bérurier Noir in the song Porcherie, released in 1984, “la jeunesse piss off the National Front”. The slogan has since been regularly used in demonstrations opposing the rise of the far-right political group, now renamed the National Rally (RN).

In 1992, the actress was enrolled at the Voltaire high school in Orléans (Loiret) and a student at the drama conservatory, notes La Nouvelle République. On March 18 of the same year, demonstrations against the far right were organized throughout France a few days before the regional and cantonal elections, in particular to protest against a party meeting at the Zénith in Paris.

While the elected representatives of the RN could win between 243 and 305 seats, against 89 currently, during the early legislative elections, other personalities have expressed their concern. Footballer Marcus Thuram is asking to block the National Rally, as is YouTuber Squeezie. Kylian Mbappé also called on Sunday to block “the extremes”.
