There were six of them packing their bags to participate in the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) competition organized by the United States in Paris for four days, from October 31 to November 3, 2024, at the Rueil-Malmaison theater. Students from the Vannes dance school of Martine Gicquello, Quitterie Le Gourrierrec (9 years old), Anna Dussaut (12 years old), Capucine Brechelette (13 years old), Élise Roquais and Lou Barillet (14 years old), as well as Manon Dessauvages (16 years old). years) worked on variations of the classical repertoire with their teachers Martine and Adeline. Only Manon Dessauvages also had the choice to present herself as a contemporary.
No less than 500 candidates from all over the world took part in the competition. And in particular Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Belarus, China, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Germany, Malta, Italy, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom, Czech Republic… Only one Breton school had registered its students for this prestigious competition alongside major schools in Paris, Lyon, Toulouse and Angevin. The jury made up of fourteen members from the four corners of the planet selected the candidates who were able to take classes at the Paris Opera dance school with great teachers such as Elisabeth Platel, the director of the English National Ballet, or even dancers from Italy, etc.
A superb twelfth place in contemporary for Manon Dessauvages
A great experience for these very young, passionate and talented dancers, with a magnificent surprise for Manon Dessauvages who finished in the Top 12 in contemporary and Anna Dussaut, who was selected for the masterclass with the finalists of its category. We will be able to see all six of them on stage, this Tuesday, November 12, at the Palais des Arts in the choreographic piece “Notre Maison Brûle” with the fifty dancers aged 9 to 17 from the company Les Chipies. This show, on the theme of ecology and the environment, lasts one hour and is perfectly suited to children aged 4 and over. Directed by Lhacen Hamed Ben Bella and Cathy Bisson and highlighted by Gilles Fournereau, it will be given for the benefit of the Habitat et humanisme association.
