The Iron Giant by Brad Bird

Before The Incredibles And Ratatouille, Brad Bird recounted the meeting of a little boy and a robot that fell from the sky. In 1957, the young Hogarth spent most of his time in front of the television. When the antenna acts up, the little boy traces the culprit and comes across an iron colossus in the nearby forest. With careful animation and an exciting context, The Iron Giant is one of the most captivating animated productions of the 90s. Bird’s fable is of rare sensitivity and captivates as much by its characters as its talk about friendship, learning about life and difference. If the box office was not successful upon its release, The Iron Giant has established itself as a must-have in animated cinema.

Our Flag Means Death by David Jenkins

When Vampire in complete privacy encounter Pirates of the Caribbeanit gives Our Flag Means Death, a zany comedy that tells the daily life of the crew of an aristocrat who has set sail. Stede Bonnet left his privileged environment to sail the seas, but struggles to familiarize himself with the basics of piracy. Punctuated with funny sequences and carried by a gallery of excellent actors, Our Flag Means Death is a nice surprise for fans of comedies and pirates.

The Newsroom by Aaron Sorkin

Between 2012 and 2014, Aaron Sorkin scrutinized America’s fourth estate. The screenwriter of The Social Network set out to tell the daily story of writing a current affairs program “News Night”. When star presenter Will McAvoy is at the heart of a controversy, the channel has no choice but to appoint a new producer to help it rethink the program from A to Z.

With brio, The Newsroom questions pre-Trump American society and confronts its characters with the reality of a profession in constant evolution and threatened by economic realities. Serious when it comes to evoking its context, the series also knows how to navigate between comedy and drama to convince its viewers. We find ourselves crying alongside heroes, as well as laughing at their disappointments.

Mad Max by George Miller

Furiosa is still showing and it’s a perfect opportunity to see or rewatch the film that started it all. From small Australian production to blockbuster, the saga Mad Max is an unmissable part of the 7th art, whether you like big cars or not. George Miller already demonstrates an undeniable talent for handling the camera, as well as unfailing creativity. Led by Mel Gibson at the top of his form, Mad Max is a post-apocalyptic monster, the kind that backfires.

On the deserted roads of an unrecognizable Australia, outlaw bikers tirelessly confront the Interceptor police officers who try by all means to rout these reckless drivers. This world which is descending into chaos will make the lines between good and bad, between heroes and antagonists disappear.

House of the Dragon by Ryan Condal

Monday morning, Westeros will reopen its doors to welcome fans of grimdark fantasy. Under the leadership of George RR Martin, HBO decided to linger in its imagination and tell the story of the Targaryen dynasty during a civil war. Two crowned heads and one throne, the Blacks and the Greens will clash to have their legitimacy recognized to govern the Kingdom of the Seven Kingdoms.

In line with Game Of Thrones, House of the Dragon should delight fans of political intrigue, dragons and cruelty. Carried by a five-star cast, the series has not yet achieved the supremacy of its predecessor, but demonstrates an all-fire, all-flame temperament.
