Discreet on social networks for more than six months, Cyril Rouanne made a sensational return to Instagram. On a trip to New York, the ex-adventurer of “ Koh Lanta » shared moments of his stay and took the opportunity to return to a traumatic event, which occurred eight years ago, in this same city. “It’s here, on the corner of 47th Street and 6th Avenue. It’s August 21, 2016, it’s 1:30 a.m., I’m alone, there are four of them, they surround me and beat me. » he wrote in a publication which includes photos of him in front of the metro exit where he was violently attacked.
The young man revealed in the “La Guerre des Chefs” edition of the TF1 program, broadcast in 2018, then clarified that he had kept no memory of the incident, except that of the police officer and the paramedic who had taken care of him. “I woke up in the hospital, lost. Then my friend Greg explains to me what I should know but don’t understand. The doctors are vague, they don’t know how my operation worked, if I will be able to walk again, talk, think like before. And I refuse to tell myself that my life is going to change. But it’s not me who decides, it’s my body. » he continued.

Indeed, this attack caused serious after-effects including “a subdural hematoma, seven hours of surgery, a metal plate, 56 staples, a year of vertigo, loss of smell, but also phantom odors”. “Follows the psychologist, the speech therapist, the rehabilitation… for 200,000 hospital costs and 100 euros which will be given to me” continued the one who had left his “Koh-Lanta” adventure at the gates of the final. Through this publication, Cyril also wanted to thank those who saved his life. “Thank you to the person who called the police and saved my life, the police officer and the paramedic I spoke to before I fell into a coma. Thanks to the hospital and its doctors. 7 hours of surgery, 24 hours of coma, and over a year of recovery. ” did he declare. And to conclude: “I said that this event had changed my life and that is the case. I come out stronger, more alive! »
