An invitation to travel, fleeting and memorable, illuminated by the Brazilian sun and the inner light that inhabits the co-founder of Aquaserge.

Two years after the pianistic tale Re Eff, the co-founder of Aquaserge returns with the abundant outline of a Large garden made in a few spring days: “I recorded everything at home with my sound card on Ableton Live software, between the living room where the piano was and the bedroom where I stacked the rest of the equipment, Fender Precision Bass, Moog, percussion, two delay pedals, a distortion pedal and a fuzz pedal.”

The result is irresistible: in just over seventeen minutes, nine pieces of sunny grace, between keyboards and whistles inspired by Brazilian music: “I have always loved this relationship to gentleness and seriousness that exists in their writing, the chiaroscuro, the drama which is ultimately not drama…” Nap under the tree, Sambadrome on the grass, Walk : everything calls for a journey tinged with an almost comforting melancholy, especially on Lamentation.

“I didn’t want poems, lyrics, librettos, spiel”

“I imagined myself sleeping, getting lost, hunting for treasure, celebrating a party on the garden lawn, under the shower, then the multicolored sky reappeared.” On the groove, Julien Gasc deploys all the narrative possibilities of the instrumental: “I didn’t want poems, lyrics, librettos, spiel… In these songs, of course I shout, I cry, I celebrate, I try to sing the highest and the lowest that I can, I fight back, take risks, I surrender, I deliver myself and I am in extreme joy. Everything is one and multiplicity. I broke an interior mirror during production of Large garden.” It’s up to us to admire its splendor.

Large garden (Julien Gasc). Released June 14.
