On the occasion of the release of his autobiography Step by step in the nightpublished on Thursday, November 7, the singer's latest companion spoke in an interview with Parisian.
She is the last woman in Serge Gainsbourg's life. Caroline Elisabeth Paulus, known as “Bambou”, published her autobiography Step by step in the night on Thursday, November 7, published by XO. On this occasion, she spoke in an interview given to Parisian, two days earlier. An interview in which she returned to the sharing of the inheritance after the death of Serge Gainsbourg, the father of her son Lucien, nicknamed “Lulu”.
“I have neither moral rights nor right of inspection. It is Serge's four children who share it (inheritance, Editor’s note),” she said. Before adding: “I had Lulu’s moral rights when he was little and he logically took it back when he came of age.” Understanding of her late companion's choice, she says: “It's normal, we weren't married and Serge hadn't made a will. He died two weeks before his meeting with his lawyers. I didn’t get anything after his death but I didn’t ask for anything.”

A united family
Bambou therefore did not take offense at the singer's decision. She also remained very close to Charlotte Gainsbourg, whom she considers a member of her family. Indeed, when the former model and Serge Gainsbourg started dating, the actress was only 9 years old. “I had twelve more. She was my little sister. I lived with her the childhood that I did not have, confided the author in the columns of Parisian. I taught him everything I knew. We both have a very strong relationship.”
The one who inspired the hit Bamboo by Alain Chamfort written by Serge Gainsbourg, was also friends with Jane Birkin. “I accepted it straight away,” she assured in an interview with France Inter Tuesday, November 5. I never had any jealousy.” The two women remained very close until the death of Jane Birkin on July 16, 2023.
