This year again, Bleu is the radio partner of the Historical Film Festival, which takes place from Tuesday November 19 to Monday November 25. The theme chosen this year is “Spain and Portugal”.

This year we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution which ended the Salazar dictatorship in Portugal. A half-century during which the films of Manoel de Oliveira, João César Monteiro, Pedro Almodovar, Carlos Saura and Luis Buñuel accompany us, move us and touch us.

Eventful history of a peninsula

FROM November 19 to 25 at the cinema Jean Eustache de Pessacmore than thirty Spanish and Portuguese films will therefore be offered in preview during the weekcovering numerous themes: “Catholic monarchies”, “Franco-Salazar, the endless dictatorships”, “Migrants yesterday and today in the South-West”, “Refugees, migrants, diaspora in France”, “Contemporary Spain”, “The painter Francisco Goya in ”, “Song, the common thread of Portuguese cinema”, to rediscover the most beautiful voices of Fado on the big screen. Around forty debates or conferences bringing together historians and specialists in cinema and audiovisual are also planned.

Understanding Today’s World

Since 1990, the International Historical Film Festival Each year offers a theme around screenings, meetings and conferences. With one objective: to delve into our past and our stories to better understand today’s world. On the program: great classics and masterpieces of cinema, previews (fictions and documentaries) and actions with schools in the metropolitan area’s middle and high schools where 19 films will be screened.
