The singer raised the sum necessary for the production of her new record in less than ten days, thanks to donations from Internet users.
Lio will be able to release his next album. The singer, who launched a fundraiser at the end of May to finance a new record, announces having raised the necessary sum in less than ten days.
“I only have one word: THANK YOU,” she wrote on Instagram in the caption of a photo in which she sports “100%” written on her chest. She is armed with two bananas, a reference to her 1979 hit “Banana Split”.
The prize pool is still open for 15 days. 136% of the objective, the amount of which has not been revealed, has so far been collected. This collection launched on the Kiss Kiss Bank Bank platform allows Internet users to pay a free amount or buy one of the packs provided (pre-order the physical album for 25 euros, the digital album for 15 euros, treat themselves to a raffle ticket for 10 euros or a tee -shirt at 45…).
An album composed with the young French scene
Lio announced this project on May 27, in a video posted on Instagram. “I’m going to try to make a new record, but a new record the way I want to make it,” she explained to the camera. “With girls that I like – and a few guys too – but (…) not by selling my rights to majors or labels who don’t want me anyway,” continues the artist. “Because a 60-year-old pop singer is the only one who wants one. And maybe you?”
She had also given information in a note of intent published on the prize pool platform: “I called on Hoshi, Corine, Owlle, Betta Lemme, Isia Marie and others to write to me songs. Because I’m a singer above all and it’s this new generation of girls that made me want to come back.”
Lio became known in the 1980s with the hits Banana Split, Brunettes don’t count for plums Or Should not start. His latest album, Lio Canta Caymmidates from 2018. At the same time, she has led an eclectic career as an actress, a TV hook juror (New starbetween 2008 and 2010) and has distinguished itself on numerous occasions through feminist speeches. She recently testified about rape by her stepfatherof which she was a victim as a child.
