Summer temperatures are expected in many regions of mainland France this Wednesday, June 26, although thunderstorms may break out in the east of the country.
Summer is here. Over a large part of the country, high temperatures are expected this Wednesday, June 26, even if the weather will be stormy and heavy on the eastern side of the metropolis, according to forecasts from Météo-France and La Chaîne Météo.
It will thus be up to 34°C in Bordeaux and 33°C in Toulouse, with the mercury exceeding 30°C also in Montélimar, Biarritz, Paris, Nantes and even Rennes. High temperatures are also expected in the west and north of the country: 27°C in Brest or 29°C in Cherbourg and Lille.
Thunderstorms in the east of the country
Only the Mediterranean coast should be spared from these high temperatures, with Meteo-France announcing 25°C in Marseille and Montpellier, or 24°C in Nice.
On the sky side, after a calm morning, thunderstorms will start from midday in Rhône-Alpes and Franche-Comté. They will spread in the afternoon to the Southern Alps, the relief of the Massif Central, eastern Burgundy, Lorraine and Alsace. The rains will be very irregular, occasionally heavy mainly in the north-east, with a risk of hail.
The Mediterranean coast and the Rhone Valley will return to calmer weather, but the maritime entries of low clouds will often hide the sun, particularly around the Gulf of Lion in the morning. The sun will dominate in Corsica, but a few showers will be possible on the relief, as well as on the Pyrenees during the day.
In the rest of the country the weather will be summery, sometimes after a bit of morning gray quickly dissipates. The sky will be clear in the morning, dotted with small cumulus clouds in the afternoon.
These high temperatures are only temporary: the weather could be disrupted this weekend, with showers over a large part of the country on Sunday.
